1956 Born in Guatemala

He began to draw in grade school, aspired early to become a painter, apprenticed himself to Jose Antonio in Guatemala City, won prizes ina series of art exhibitions and found his first market in El Sombol.
He received instruction from two of the most important painters in Santiago Atitlan, Manuel Reanda and Miguel Chavez.
His brother, Matias, is a painter as well.
Presently, Mariano has several pupils, including his wife Vicenta Patzul.
